So, coming to the next part of this small review, the differences between S-Note and Samsung Notes. Well, to be honest, they are absolutely not replaceable with each other – both are different in so many ways that you should have both apps installed in your phone to use all of their functions. Let’s dig deeper into that.
Samsung released Samsung Notes which first we saw in the Note 7 and then in latter models. It was meant to be a replacement of the already popular S-Note; however, that’s still a far cry from our good old S-Note. So, what Samsung Notes is? It’s a collector or organizer of your notes. You can compare it to Google’s note app, “Google Keep.” Basically what it does is it organizes various items you made up using texts, drawing, sounds, and images inside and you can access those items whenever you open the app. However, while you can put all of those various types of items in Samsung Notes in an organized way, you can’t make the items overlapped or merged with each other to create another item. It’s great if you just need a nifty organizer app to make a sort of a collection of such different items, Samsung Notes is all you need in that case. But what you could have done with S-Note is far important for many users and Samsung Notes doesn’t even come close. So, what S-Note does that Samsung Notes can’t? S-Note is not just another regular note app like Google Keep. You can compare it to OneNote considering its versatility. It’s a notepad where you can put texts, images, drawings, etc. and you can overlap them with each other to create a whole different thing, where at the same time you can display a drawing with an image and some texts while playing a sound! Moreover, you can put one item in front of another item (or put an item behind of another item) if you want to do so, there’s an option for that in S-Note.
So, if you see both apps closely, you’ll realize that where one app (Samsung Notes) is simply another notepad, the other one (S-Note) is much more than a typical notepad, it’s a more versatile or should I say, a “creative” app? There are no things that Samsung Notes can do, but S-Note can’t – however, there are many things which S-Note does exclusively. There’s a piece of bad news though. If you update S-Note to its latest version, Samsung removed the much-loved feature “Action Memo” from it. Hence you should use an older version apk (or you should not update at all if you have the older version installed already) from online.
